What is a Decree?
In the same book Saint Germain tells us:
“Decrees are not careless words; they are careful words. And the patterns which we recommend are invocative of the highest good for man.
Let no one feel a sense of separation in his service to hierarchy; for by the power of decrees issued forth at any point upon the earth’s surface, the currents of light, life, and love from the heart of God can be unleashed as electrical, radiating waves to make their impact in the world and bring back to the invoker the God-ordained response.
The statement ‘Thou shalt decree a thing and it shall be established unto thee’ [Job 22:28] is an ancient maxim that sets forth the law governing decrees. For man, created in the image of God, has the selfsame power to actuate which was used by God ‘in the beginning’ when he said, ‘Let there be light!’ and there was light. [Gen:1-3]
(There is a time and place for meditation, also prayer and also decrees. All three can be used but one is not a substitute for the other.)
It is important to cultivate devotion and reverence to God and the Masters while decreeing. To help us stay in the heart, we can put our hand on our heart. We can visualize our heart as a giant gothic temple. Elizabeth Claire Prophet taught us that the architecture of the gothic temples were impressed upon the mind of the architects by heaven, as it resembles the inner heart.
Not all decrees reach Heaven. To learn to decree effectively, so that the Holy Spirit can use our decrees to bring about positive changes for ourselves and in the world, we can use the following principles:
- make sure we understand the words of the decree and can pronounce them correctly,
- we can use visualization to increase the effectiveness and focus of the decrees,
- speed is not the goal. The acceleration happens naturally by the Holy Spirit.
- correct breathing is an important aspect of decreeing. We practice breathing into our abdomen while decreeing. It can help when we place our hand on our diaphragm (the muscle right below our lungs), and feel it rising. Abdominal breathing will become a habit and we will find decreeing easier.
In the book, The Science of the Spoken Word, the messengers Mark and Elizabeth Claire Prophet give us advice on the best way to give a decree:
“Before actually speaking the words of the decree, sit in a comfortable straight chair in a well-lighted room where you will be undisturbed, taking care that the room is tidied, clean and well aired. Dust, untidiness and stale air, reduce the effectiveness of the decrees. These conditions impede the flow of light and repel the angelic hosts, who assist the supplicant in amplifying the release of God’s holy energies.
Visualise the Presence of God above you. See the chart, the threefold flame pulsating and expanding from your heart, blue plume to your left, pink to your right and yellow in the centre.
Hold your spine and head erect, your legs and hands uncrossed, and your feet flat on the floor. Crossing the hands and legs and poor posture causes a “short circuiting” of the energies which are intended to flow through the individual for the blessing of all mankind.
Hold your decree book, device or individual decree at eye level so that you do not lean down while decreeing. You may prefer to sit at a desk or table where you can prop up your book or device in front of you, thus leaving your hands free and resting, palms up, to receive the blessings of God through the masters. Speak the decree slowly and clearly without strain until you can fully comprehend the meaning of its content. Then concentrate upon the rhythm and begin to give it more quickly..
It is important to breathe deeply and regularly, using the power of the fire breath of God to project the light through your entire body and then out into the world to bless all of life with the magnetization of God’s energy focused through your own heart flame.”
Who or What is the Christ?
Saint Germain explains:
“The Christ as the only begotten Son of the Father is the only true heir of God. This Son of God is your own true identity, the real you whom God made in his image and likeness. This likeness never fell into sin and disrepute but remains inviolate as the Christ—the beloved Holy Christ Self—of every man and woman.
Those who truly understand the mystery of the Christ have seen that even as there is one God, one Father, so there is one Christ, one Son. It is the nature of the Infinite One to multiply Being infinitely and still remain one. (One times one times one ad infinitum always equals one.) Thus God the Father and God the Son may be actualized in man and in woman over and over again and still remain inviolate as the Divine One. All men share in this oneness and have within themselves the essence of the divine nature—God individualized as the mighty I AM Presence of every son and daughter, and the Christ individualized as the Holy Christ Self of each one. Without God and the Word, the Christ that was with him in the beginning, no manifestation was made—no man was created without being infused with a portion of God and a portion of the Christ.”
What Happens When We Decree?
Saint Germain tells us:
“Decrees are synthesized manifestations of the heart flame of each one who decrees. Decrees draw together and focalize the power of the spoken Word, the visualization of the Christ mind, and the rhythm of the divine pulse. When you decree, you are releasing into space divinely qualified energy charged by your invocation with the power of the ascended masters which goes forth to do its perfect work for the amplification of the power of light upon the entire planet.
The proper use of decrees takes practice. Individuals should not expect that the first time they make a call, the very perfection of the universe will sweep away all of the accumulated debris of their lives.
Proper decreeing is an art; and as one gains greater proficiency, he will find it possible to speed up his decrees—that is, he will be able to speed up the rate at which they are given. He will also be able to understand what is taking place as he speeds them up; for this acceleration, by raising the rate of his own electronic pattern, throws off and transmutes negative thoughts and feelings in his world.”
The messengers tell us:
“We are created in the image of God, and thus we possess all the attributes that God has, just as every drop in the ocean possesses the essential nature of the whole.
To decree or to command the energies of life is the prerogative of the Christ-identity or Higher Self of every son and daughter of God. The human self, being imperfect and incomplete, has not yet been given the authority to utter fiats of creative direction; and thus he must always decree “In the name of the beloved mighty victorious Presence of God, I AM, in me and my own beloved Holy Christ Self.”
The decree or divine fiat, the decreer, and the answer to the decree comprise a threefold manifestation of God himself. The decreer must recognize that ‘God in me is giving this decree. It is God’s energy that flows forth to obey his command, and he is the fulfilling of the law by the power of the spoken Word which is manifesting in me.’ Man (the lesser self) is thus an instrument for the light that comes forth from the heart of God to coalesce as manifest perfection. He is not the source of the light, neither is he the dictator.
Thus, having established in mind the realization of who is the doer—I AM (God is) the open door which no man can shut—the disciple may begin the sacred ritual of offering decrees in the name of the Father-Mother God (the I AM Presence), the Son (the universal Christ, which manifests in every man as his own beloved Christ-identity or Holy Christ Self), and the Holy Spirit (the energies of the sacred fire that endow form and consciousness with the essence of God that is life).”
Why Do We Start a Decree Session with the Tube of Light?
The messengers explain that this is our first level of spiritual protection.
“Begin each day by establishing a protective light around yourself and loved ones by giving the ‘Tube of Light’ affirmation three times.
Visualization: As you recite this affirmation, see yourself as depicted in the Chart of Your Divine Self, your Higher Self is above you.
Above your Higher Self is your I AM Presence, the presence of God with you.
See and feel a waterfall of dazzling white light, brighter than the sun shining on new-fallen snow, tumbling down from your I AM Presence to envelop you. See it coalescing to form an impenetrable wall of light. Inside that scintillating aura of white light, see yourself surrounded with the violet flame of the Holy Spirit, a powerful high-frequency spiritual energy that transforms negativity (your own or another’s) into positive and loving energy. From time to time throughout the day, reinforce this spiritual protection by repeating the prayer and visualizing yourself enfolded by the tube of light.”
This decree is best given while standing for the full visualisation of the tube of light action.
